Zac Marben has been around for a while. Filmed his first video part years ago, got ender this year, and he’s only just beginning his twenties. He’s got the kind of pop only people like Jamie Lynn and Wille Yli-Luoma have and a method to match it. I had a short chat with Zac and caught up with him before the snow really comes down and he begins his vagabond ways again.

Hey Zac, where are you at these days?

Zac: Minneapplecrisp, Minnesota.

That sounds sweet.. is summer over yet?

Zac: Oh yeah, summer is over. It has been snowing on and off for a couple days, but it’s not sticking.

Some frosting on that apple crisp huh? Any resorts open in your area?

Zac: Yeah, love that frosting. There are a couple hills opening up. I have been out riding a few times.

Lucky! We need Bear to open down here. Did you get much shredding in this summer?

Zac: For sure. I rode the whole summer long. I was out at Mt. hood for 2 months, and then I made it down to New Zealand for a couple weeks, and then straight over to Argentina for another couple weeks. It was crazy.

Dang, I assume the NZ and Argentina trips were with Volcom. Any craziness happen there? Or just mid summer pow?

Zac: Yeah I went to NZ with Volcom and it was pretty crazy riding mid summer pow. Riding in helicopters and all that jazz. My trip to Argentina was with Vans and Snowboard Mag and that was pretty wild as well.

So I don’t know how much you pay attention to message boards or whatever, but those Volcom boards you’ve been riding have been causing a stir. What’s up with it? Is Volcom planning on making big moves with those?

Zac: Yeah I’ve had all kinds of questions thrown at me about em. I guess they have already been making big moves by making them and having myself and Seth Huot and Gigi Ruff and some others on them. As for Volcom selling the boards. Not now, but I could see them selling in the future.

Well played. So I don’t know if you remember, but you just had curtains in ‘Down with People’. How did that feel?

Zac: Oh man, that is crazy. It feels pretty good. I didn’t even know until a week before the premier. Those guys were going to keep it a secret, but Austin Smith told me in NZ.

So Austin broke the good news while you were shredding powder in the summer, that must have been a nice trip! Coming off such a good year you must be pretty hyped for this year.

Zac: Yeah man it has been a good one. I am super excited to get going this season. I have already had a few great days riding with my friends causing a ruckus and learning tricks.

Nothing wrong with causing a little ruckus in November, nothing at all. Are you gonna home base out of Minnapplecrisp this winter?

Zac: No, I don’t think I am not going to home base this winter. I am planning on traveling pretty much the whole time. Save money instead of paying rent and film as much as possible.

Take it back to the nomadic days, that sounds pretty perfect. Maybe you can make it down to Bear this winter, that’d be cool. Well my brother is sitting behind me just asking to be schooled in NBA 2K9… Any last words?

Zac: Hmm yeah, school him! Pssst… want to hear a new song before you are off.
