Night at the Castle

January 31st, 2009 by nima

Thursday night was the shit, we all met up for an “Ashbury Party” at the Castle (Excalibur).  Most of the homies were there…

At 2:00 we checked out the black jack situation, after everyone started losing their bucks, the only ones left was Dave Graves, Dirks, Haley, Levi and myself.   Graves and Dirks ran out of bucks, so Bank of Nima went into effect… started hookin up some chips, until we got down to only 10 bucks.  That’s when shit started happening, turned into a party at the black jack table..  it was 7:00am when we noticed that the sun was out, and in comes Homewreck (Matty Ryan) randomly, he gets in on this shit… we wrap it up at 8:00, go Cash in, and several bucks later… we called it a night.  Dave and Haley went straight to the trade show from there, Dirks went straight to Germany, I went straight to bed.   Here’s some pics for ya.  We came up almost $800, from being down to just 10.    R.I.P.  SIA in Vegas.

Our homies from Korea.

Again loosing photos unawares. This time on one of Ashbury’s all-time favorite people, Brad Alband showing the new 32 line. They’re doing a movie with Stepchild too starring the one and only Joey David Sexton and of course, it looks hellafied.

Louie Paradise’s very special boot.

Videograss’ Justin Meyer and Jan Snarski. All they were missing was Sean McCormick.

Tyler Verigan closing barriers.

The huddle.

Nick (after pulling an all nighter) and Harrison in the new shades. Nick is flying to Munich as I type for his first time over seas. He’s then going to Lebanon, Korea, and Japan. A month long trip. Wow.

Travis Parker handpainted the Airblaster booth. Travis Parker is no surf turkey, and to top it off he can paint.

Big Mountain Mike and Stever (former bassist of Guttermouth) from Burton.

Justin Meyer jazzed Bob up.

JP Tomich, back in the day I saw JP do so many perfect switch backside nines that I wasn’t even impressed anymore. Yeah, I know, pretty cool.

Cool story. Think Thank’s new movie.

Jesse Burtner and Zac Marben holding down our booth.

Bigs and a gangsterous Matt Davis.

Gus Engle had to walk away from the cuteness of the Skeleton Crew.

Fools checking out the new Videograss teaser.

Nima and Stephen Duke catching up.

Eric Fernandez and Comune’s Chris Thomas.

Ragdoll and Corey Smith.

Mikey Leblanc, Nima Jalali, and Justin Meyer.

I know. It’s blurry. But look at all the youth in the photo. Tyler Verigan, Ben Rice, Harrison Gordon, Desiree Melancon, Nick Dirks, and Nick Lipton upon their arrival.

Party at the Ashbury booth, woohoo!

Videograss’ Jan Snarski and Desiree Melancon.

Nick showing Louie Paradise some text messages from LNP, apparently Laurent got a new tattoo.

I know what you’re thinking.. and trust me, I was thinking the same thing. One of those Rabbit’s feet would look real nice on my key chain.

Desiree all done up for the Transworld Rider’s Poll Awards. She was up for Reader’s Choice and Louie Paradise was up for Rookie of the year.

Transworld art department, Dustin and John. They’ll kill you!

Dustin, John, Ben, and Tom (T-Boarder).

I’m much much taller than Jonas Michilot and Louie Paradise.

Super pro skier Chris Benchetler and Dragon Marketing Director Mike Tobia working together on getting Chris’ hand clean in the restroom.

Chris Beresford had an accident.

But then he got a photo with Jamie Lynn.

SIA Day One: Excellent Pros and One-Handed Push-ups

January 28th, 2009 by Lance Michael Hakker

Brandon from Rome sponsoring the Ashbury booth by cutting us some velcro tape with a saw.

Shabam!

Big Mountain Mike and Dan Weigle talking about the most interesting stuff, seriously. I would try to explain, but you’re to boring to understand. And I caught Mike right when he is looking super weird. Sucks for him.

Eric Fernandez approved.

Cast signings.

Big Evan LeFebvre trying on the goggles and Big Mountain Mike supporting Evan’s movie.

Blaise holding down the Artec booth.

Evan’s Skeleton Crew tat.

Mad pros at the Ashbury booth all day. Laura Hadar.

Will Tuddenham, Jordan Mendenhall, and Matty Ryan.

Matty rocking the new Day Trippers.

Kyle Fischer, Joe Carlino, Gus Engle, and Brian Craighill.

Carlino with a couple of his These Days‘ heavies. Lucas Debari and Louie Paradise.

Me taking a photo of Joe taking a photo of Louie’s office.

Evan getting done up by Leanne Pelosi. Did you know her real first name is Jenna?

Brent Futogaki and Tall Todd from Active with Brad Schueffele. I probably misspelled Brad’s last name.

Mendenhall, Carlino, Paradise, and Kooley. Like I said, mad pros.

Big Mountain Mike and Nima showing the line.

Louie’s drawings of Laurent and Ben Bilocq. Laurent and Ben have been friends since pre-school.

Java mastering the one handed push-up. But that’s not too impressive considering he can do 117 push ups in a row!

Bigs has em too. He did one left handed too.

Louie didn’t make his.

Mike and old friend Treu Hanenburger, Ride’s boot dork.

Louie and Java playing ro sham bo to see whether Java should bust out his computer and show us some top secret footy. Louie won.

The restroom at our dinner spot had a dvd player next to the toilet.

And it looked like the restrooms on a alien spaceship.

I was so excited about dessert that I got some on Java’s phone. But, you know, at least it wasn’t mine.

SIA Set Up Day: Big Mountain Mike is Susceptible to Typos

January 27th, 2009 by Lance Michael Hakker

Yesterday was our set up day here in Vegas. I brought my elph, but not the battery. So I had to take photos with my iphone. So you’ll be excusing the occasional upside down photo (that I could have fixed in iphoto, but didn’t).

Mike Tobia! This fool is Marketing Director for Dragon. Our fierce (as most Dragons are) competitor. Nima, Big Mountain, and I grew up shredding with Tobia and will definitely be throwing a fart bag in their booth.

The appropriate booth unloading spot was too far away from our booth and the Elm booth. So we pirated a pedestrian exit and make a quick dash back and forth.

Stackin booths.

We took it all into this midway area and never got caught.

Nima and our Eastern Canadian rep Steph.

Nima customizing our neighbor’s booth.

Our Northwest rep Ryan Garvie vacuuming. Ah ha.

Nothing like a huge vehicle intruding on your booth space. Alex from Elm directing traffic.

Justin Meyer came and showed us the nearly finished Videograss teaser all while representing for Skeleton Crew (4 life).

Kye Clancy?

Booth Builders

January 25th, 2009 by Lance Michael Hakker

Today we were finishing up our booth (actually building it) just in time to head out to Vegas tomorrow for SIA. Nima’s bird.

Get it? I’m wearing sunglasses.

Josh and Dan from Elm putting the Elm booth in the truck that we’re sharing with them. I drove that truck and it’s scary and big. It has a horizontal steering wheel.

Orderliness.
