I remember Austin when he was probably 11 years old. Maybe. My brother and I along with a few friends were trying to skate a mini ramp behind our friends house. We weren’t so hot. A child rides up on a little BMX bike. Then this kid gets all extreme on us with his roller blades. Shredding on blades. Whatever. Then he takes his wheels off and gets on one of our skateboards and starts shredding that too! We were impressed. I later find out he races his BMX and dirt bike as well. Extreme sports, first generation. When I was young I just rode my bike, and I sat on my skateboard. I never even new what a dirt bike was until I started high school and if I remember correctly, rollerblades weren’t even gay yet.

 

Lets start with the important stuff. How is Bohdan doing? What has she been up too?

Aximal: She’s great. Ollie is constantly wrestling with her. Right now she’s sleeping in my suitcase that I just unpacked from the last 2 months.

Does Ollie live with her?

Aximal: Well X has been staying here a bit. It’s “selling season.” So he lives here.

Poor Ollie.

Aximal: He thrashes.

You were just in Japan. What were you doing there and where else have you been lately?

Aximal: Yes, Japan was amazing. Went R&D for Fall 2009 and just hung out. I was in New York for a bit 2 days before I left for Japan.

I kinda hate you. ODYN VOVK sounds more legit than Ashbury!

Aximal: It is WAY more legit, ONE WOLF. Swear. This was dinner.

 

 

Yeah right.

Aximal: Proof?

Did it taste like lobster?

Aximal: No, it tasted like a crunchy, moldy, rotten piece of chicken from 1805.It was great!

 

 

Why One Wolf? And why Ukrainian?

Aximal: I don’t know, I guess I’m the “One Wolf.”

Haha

Aximal: Just doing whatever it takes to get to the top. Wolf is about knowing your inner power in such a way that you do not need to demonstrate. And Ukrainian because I really wanted to do something for my grandparents, who both escaped from a concentration camp during the holocaust.

WWOOO! I didn’t know that!!!! SO, what is the line like?

Aximal: Lots of leather, denim and drapey pieces.

It’s all black and white, right? Any reason behind that?

Aximal: Yes. It’s my first season, so without the distraction of color your able to notice the quality of construction. And who doesn’t like black.

 

 

What’s up with Aximal? Is it just your persona now?

Aximal: Haha, pretty much. It was just something I did for myself and friends.

Yeah, forever.

Aximal: AXIMAL IS FOREVER.

Haha, I know I know.

Aximal: People still hit me up about it. It’s funny.

So, Lance, Dan, Quince and I talked you into going to school. What happened?

Aximal: True story. It didn’t end up being what I expected at all. The kids that I was surrounded by were THE WORST. And the professors did nothing but criticize my work in a very unmotivational way. So, I dropped out after the first quarter and dedicated 100% of my time on my collection.

School is cool!

Aximal: Not that one.

No, in your case I think it was a good idea.

Aximal: I just really dislike the militant ways of school.

Haha, yeah. I hear you on that one. Teachers need to loosen up a little. I think most people that should be teaching do other things. So we get left with the scraps. (for the most part)

Aximal: Exactly.

 

 

Who or what inspires you?

Aximal: Anything that sparks my interest really. I’m really fascinated by Black Metal and Taxidermy.

That’s funny cause I’m really into The Beatles and living breathing wildlife.

Aximal: Right now I’m staring at a bat skeleton my mom just got for my birthday. It’s set in plexiglass. The shapes of it’s bones and skeleton is really inspiring.

I’m admiring my cat Audrey, she is on my bed. I bought her for myself on my birthday. She is black with gold eyes. Real gold.

Aximal: Bohdan is cruising around while Ollie is staring at me and meowing. Bohdan is like no other cat!

Haha. I think I’ll put pictures of your cats with the interview.

 

 

Aximal: Yeah, She is GOD’S GIFT.

You’re lucky Audrey didn’t see that.

Aximal: Haha

So, the snow season is coming up. Are you excited?

Aximal: Actually, I really am. I think it’s going to be a great time for me to exit from the world I am constantly surrounded by. A time to relax, because when I snowboard I do nothing but (cool tricks) think about snowboarding!

Haha. When do you start the next season of ODYN VOVK?

Aximal: In the process of designing Fall 2009 right now.

Aximal: I see everything anyways. Nima sends me stuff all the time.

Haha, I know I show you alot, I think.

Aximal: Oops. Did he just get grounded?

Aximal: Hahaha, Yeah I’m over it.

Me too! Really though I’m staying at your cabin this winter, and you better be there. Too many interruptions. Lance is hovering right now.

Aximal: I will, sometimes. Haha, Lances is gay.

It sucks. People assume I am too because of him.
